'No Wires' Club Caught On Video Yet Again!

July 31, 2011
Riders Juniors School No Wires Club 2011

Sixteen more children from Riders Junior School in Havant have joined the exclusive No Wires Club, bringing the overall total to one hundred and twelve.

For seven years now, CIA has sponsored Riders' High Achievers Awards where a boy and a girl from each year is chosen by the teachers to reward them for their achievements. Everyone has a chance to shine as the children are continually assessed throughout the year and judged not just by their academic achievement but by all round progress, such as attendance, time keeping and behaviour.

Their prize is a helicopter flight out of Goodwood, over their home territory in the Havant area and on down to Portsmouth where they are treated to an aerial view of local landmarks like Pompey Football Ground and the Spinnaker Tower. We call it the No Wires Club as a play on words - CIA's wireless alarms, of course, have no wires and nor do the children!

As usual, the parents and children arrived at Goodwood in the school's mini bus and had a picnic before the flights began. This year, it didn't rain but it was quite windy which meant that the helicopter had to use a different runway. This was a bit of a disappointment for the watching parents and the video crew because the view of the helicopter's take off and landing was obscured by a large aircraft hanger. However, you'll see from the video that this didn't dampen the children's enthusiasm in the least and, once again, the day was considered a brilliant success.

The last flight of the day is traditionally reserved for staff and this year it was the turn of the unsung heroes, the cleaning team. A couple of them had to drop out at the last moment so we held an impromptu raffle and two parents got to go up as well. Everyone - children, staff and parents - all agreed it was a wonderful experience.

CIA has been involved with Riders since the signing of the ground breaking Partnership Agreement between the school and CIA who have committed to sponsor the school's achievement awards. The agreement was formalised in March 2005 in the presence of Havant's MP, David Willetts and other local dignitaries.

CIA's commitment was acknowledged by Hampshire County Council that same year when we were awarded their Employer of the Year in Support of Education award.

And more recently, in November 2010, we were elated to win the Best Business Category for a business or employee who brightens up customers's lives in the We Can Do It! campaign run by The News for our ongoing support of Riders Junior School.

It's a great day for everyone - the parents are proud of their children and all their hard work, the children are thrilled by their treat and CIA are delighted to contribute to the future by encouraging the education of these young people.

*A monitored alarm is one that is linked via the telephone line or cellular network or both to an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC).

An ARC is a permanently manned call centre whose staff are dedicated to monitoring security alarms and contacting the right Authority - i.e. the Police usually, or the Fire Brigade in the case of a fire - if there is an activation.  An ARC is bound by strict legislation which ensures the highest standards of operation.
