On 24 July 2011, Sherry Dagan from CIA’s Credit Control team will be one of the 9000-strong band of women who will be walking, jogging or running 5K together in Portsmouth’s Race for Life to help raise money for Cancer Research UK.
At Christmas, Sherry’s mother-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer and it was a dreadful shock for the whole family.
Sherry said, “I felt so helpless and just wanted to help somehow but there wasn’t much I could do.
“So in January my sister and I decided to do the 5K Race for Life. I’d done it once before and it was the only thing we could think of doing to show how much we cared. We’re aiming to raise £130 between us.”
Sue Milner Smith, our Customer Services Director, was diagnosed with breast cancer herself 3 years ago and does the Race for Life every other year so she’s already got the T-Shirt! She’s lending it to Sherry for her walk.
Sue has always been impressively positive about her situation and, with just 2 more years to go before being given the ‘all clear’, she says, “Good for Sherry! I know from personal experience just how important breast cancer research is. Let’s face it; without it, I might very well not be here today.”
Sherry’s mother in law is also responding well to treatment so fingers crossed for them both.
There are very few of us these days who haven’t been touched at some level by cancer so in their memory, give generously to Sherry who is really walking for us all. It’s very easy, and to quote the advert, Every Little Helps! Just follow the link:
