Buyer Beware of £99 Alarm System Deals

ACPO Response Levels for Security Systems

The Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) brings together the expertise and experience of chief police officers from England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

A Brief Explanation for the Table Below Follows:

The 'Intruder Threshold' column is the number of false alarms different Police Forces will attend before Police response will be withdrawn.

NB: Some Police Forces state '3un 5conf', this means that Police response will be withdrawn after 3 false alarms for unconfirmed systems (systems installed pre-2002; when the DD243 Standard was introduced) or Police response is withdrawn after 5 false alarms for systems that can give confirmation.

The 'Level 2 - Yes/No' column indicates whether systems unable to give confirmation (& fitted post-DD243) will get a Police response if Police resources are available (Level 1 always takes presedence).

The 'PA Threshold' column indicates how many personal attack false alarms are permitted before Police response is withdrawn.

The 'Combine Intruder/PA - Yes/No' column indicates whether a particular Police Force issues 1 or 2 URNs for Police calling systems that incorporate both personal attack and an intruder alarm.

The 'Warning Letter - 1st/2nd call / 0' column indicates ...

The 'Zeroing/Reduction of false calls' column is for industry use.
