BAFE SP203 Modular Scheme for Fire Detection & Alarm Systems

The Chief Fire Officers Association (CFOA) encourages Responsible Persons to use only third party certificated companies recognised by United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) for the Design, Installation, Commissioning & Handover, Verification and Maintenance of Fire Detection & Alarm Systems to BS 5839-1.

BAFE (British Approval of Fire Equipment) Accreditation

Third party certification bodies should not be confused with trade associations; they are set up so that no one stakeholder can hold influence.

The two leading UKAS approved third party certification bodies for the fire industry are the NSI and SSAIB.  Both can certify for British Approvals for Fire Equipment (BAFE) SP203 or to the Loss Prevention Council Board (LPCB) LPS1014 standards.  To qualify for accreditation, applying companies must demonstrate the most rigorous and professional working practices in all aspects of its operation.

CIA was one of the first companies nationwide to gain NSI BAFE SP203 accreditation.  All our systems are designed, installed, commissioned and maintained to standards laid down by the Chief Fire Officers Association (CFOA).

Why Choose a Company Who is 3rd Party Certificated?

The public relies on experts to provide them with the right fire alarm system and equipment to protect property and human life.   Not all fire alarm installers are fully competent but until an incident occurs, no one can know.

However, a company with UKAS third party accreditation is proof that they deliver the best advice and the highest standards.

End users will know that third party certificated companies have met the requirements of the FRS, insurance companies and Building Control’s fire officer, where necessary.

Third party certificated companies also operate a complaints service in the exceptional event that there is a problem.

Another very valid reason for choosing a third party accredited company is that in extremes, if there was a fatality resulting from fire in a commercial property, the responsible person would be able to prove that they had taken every possible measure to protect property and life over and above the British Standard.

CIA Are NSI BAFE 3rd Party Accredited to SP203

CIA has BAFE SP203 accreditation in all four modules of design, installation, commissioning and maintenance which demonstrates that we offer a service and product of the highest integrity.

We cover the counties surrounding Hampshire (Hants), including Berkshire (Berks), Dorset, East Sussex, Surrey, West Sussex, Wiltshire (Wilts), as well as the Isle of Wight.
